The 4th With The Dorn’s

Each year our family throws a HUGE 4th of July party. You could say it’s our favorite holiday. As with everything else in this crazy year, it seems that we will take a step back and have a party that looks a little different.

My husband, Andrew, and Tiffany’s brother, Matt, have always been into putting on their own fireworks show at the party. A few years ago, they leveled up. They wire up all the fireworks ahead of time, and coordinate the show to music. Then when it’s show time, they press one button and the show starts. It really is pretty amazing.

So this year, we are having a DRIVE-IN 4th of July Party! We have ordered boxed meals from Chick-fil-A (everyone’s favorite) and will hand them out to each car as they drive in. Guests will bring lawn chairs and essentially tailgate at their own car for the “party.”

At show time, we will make our rounds to the cars again to pass out a little firework treat. Every year we order these cups (pictures below) from Totally Promotional. We can design our own artwork and upload it to their site. They ship so fast and are a great take-home for guests. Of course in years past we have used these cups for drinks at the party, but since things look a little different this year, we will be filling them with popcorn to hand out to our guests as a sweet treat to enjoy during the fireworks show.

We are firm believers that the show must go on in times like these. So today we are sharing with you some of our favorite 4th of July treats that we have made in years past. See below for a DELICIOUS Homemade Oreo and Independence Day Cookie Bar recipe.
