Let’s Build Cabinet Doors

This is my second go round with building cabinet fronts. I choose to do overlay fronts. Keep reading to avoid a MAJOR mistake I made this time.

Step 1: Measuring and cutting down all your rails and stiles. I used a 1×8 Aspen board for these. If I could do it again I might have choose a harder wood as soft woods dent easy and this will be a cabinet I am using multiple times every day
Next up is creating the Dado Grove. You want this to be the thickness of the center board. I am using 1/4 thick plywood for the middle. Each cut through my table saw is 1/8 thick so I made two cuts through. If you have a dado blade set the thickness and just do one cut. Do this on all the boards.
Ensure you measure for the rail and stiles correctly so you don’t run into this problem. Funny thing too is that my original draw up was correct I just apparently went off book when making them… A quick few cuts and I was able to salvage them

Stay tuned for the installation!
Next up: Caulk and paint to bring them to life.
