Our Pop-Up Shop

Well, we did it! Our Pop-Up Shop (basically a fancy word for a yard sale) happened this past Saturday and it was so much fun! Watch the video above to see a sneak peek into what our setup looked like! Today, we thought it would be cool to give you guys a “behind-the-scenes” look at how we pulled this off.

First, why did we decide to do this? We had gotten the idea from other bloggers/influencers that we follow on Instagram. They live in bigger cities, and rented out a space in a shopping center and setup a Pop-Up Shop! So we thought, why can’t we do this here in Hendersonville!? My Aunt Kathy owns a block downtown that is made up of four buildings. One is in-between renters right now and it was the perfect spot for us- on a busy road, totally empty, and a space that lends itself to retail. For setup, we bought these garment racks from Walmart to hang our clothes on, and we had the boys move in 6′ tables for our pants and bags!

When we decided on the date, we went to our local resource, 1st Choice Graphics, to have some signs made to advertise around town. We also made an ad on Canva to share on social media. 1st Choice Graphics also joined us the day-of and setup a table selling masks, it was a huge hit with our customers!

So we started to gather our merchandise! We had women’s, men’s, and teens categories. Our products included clothes, shoes, jewelry, bags and home decor. We also opened this up to our families and they gave us stuff to sell too! When we priced our items, we were pricing to sell but also keeping in mind that this was good quality stuff that had nice name brands. For pricing, we each had a designated color of label to write our prices on so that we could appropriately divide up the profits later.

We decided to open the shop from 7:00am until 4:00pm. Yard Sale’s start early, and we knew if we wanted to reach that crowd, we would have to start early too. We accepted cash and Venmo. A lot of people asked if we took credit cards, but once we said we took Venmo, they were thrilled to do that!

At the end of the day, we were so happy with the outcome! Almost every customer that came in bought something. It was so fun to spend the entire day there and have friends, family and customers funnel in and out to come visit! It also felt so good to do a big closet purge.

Also… I may or may not have already spent my profit on new staple pieces for my closet… Who would be interested in what I bought with my Pop-Up Shop earnings!? Aside from that, what other specific questions do you have about our Pop-Up Shop process? Leave comments below!
